Livestock farmers in Namwala District have commended President Hakainde Hichilema and the Zambian government for securing a beef export deal with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
KALITUBA FARMS partner, Johannes Mvula, said the agreement has created new market opportunities and better prices for cattle, significantly improving farmers’ livelihoods. He added that the deal has restored confidence among producers and opened access to regional markets.
Mr. Mvula further urged the government to continue supporting the livestock sector through enhanced veterinary services, improved breeding programs, and modern infrastructure to sustain the growing demand for Zambian beef.
The Zambian government recently finalized the beef export agreement with the DRC a major milestone in the country’s agricultural and trade sectors. The initiative is part of Zambia’s broader strategy to diversify exports, strengthen regional trade, and meet the increasing demand for quality beef products in the region.
Under the deal, Zambia is supplying processed and certified beef products that meet both regional and international sanitary standards.
